I have begun a new quest in quilting. I am learning and studying an old and historic form of this now creative art. Back then, it was just a practical way to make the clothes, blanket and home décor. The stitching together of layers of padding and fabric dates way way back. I am however using this form to recycle and create useful rugs, blankets and table runners for my home. I believe the fun is in the collecting of fabrics. How to use the patterns and colors and the stories behind the pieces to tell the story of our lives, here on earth for the short time we are here.

There are a lot of techniques, terminology, products, measuring gadgets, and not to mention how to run the equipment with all the different feet... to learn about. I spent two days on just thread. Yes, thread. You need to google that. It is plastic. Microplastic. Not to mention batting. Do you use bamboo, recycled water bottle, cotton, polyester, I went with the all natural. This is just the filler between the sandwich.
I am loving it though. I really enjoy the hunt for the fabric and all the different
colors. I am going to create a Crazy Quilt first. This way you will not be able to see all my newbie mistakes, and all the decorative needlework will cover up all the crooked sewing. So should you have any cotton material your going to give to the Goodwill or through out, think about donating to me instead of throwing it out into the landfill.
