Prayer Flags

I wanted to create a project that I would be able to share with my daughter and the world.  I was looking at some quilt books, when I came across a Prayer Flag.  I had no idea what this was.  The word caught my attention.  What was a prayer flag and who used them? After some internet surfing. A lot of people use them.  However, the Tibetans hang them on all passes, bridges etc. The history of Tibetan Monks goes back thousand of years ago.  So check out the history. The flags contain images of deities, mantras and prayers.  When hung it will spread out with the wind into the universe and to all who listens for the love.  Here are some pictures of my Flags.  There are five, each color represents a mandra, or prayer.  The type of deities are called Snow Lion, Garuda, Tiger and Dragon.  These are called Lungta Flags.  "Windhorses". Please research to get a better understanding of how these are meant to work with the prayers.

WATERCOLOR PENCIL WRAP

I purchased a new comforter a few years ago for the bedroom.  The comforter came in a plastic package that holds the product.  I saved it.  Yes, I saved it!  Why, cuz maybe, I might be able to use it for something.  All you Artist's know what I mean. I did not use it for storage, I folded it up and put it into the closet.  So when my Sweetheart purchased a new set of watercolor pencils for me, I needed something to put them in. The package that the pencils came in is awkward, stiff and bulky and doesn't fit into my plein-air bag. So I dug out some bias tape, first time I ever used it, cut up the comforter bag and went to town. I tried to incorporate the zip part but that didn't happen.  So I finally finished with this.

The Fabric Mini Album

This project I saw on Pinterest. But when I went back to get the directions.  I was not able find them.  There are dozens of differnt ideas  But I am just making it up as I go.   Here was the first step I did.

I will add more pictures as I move along on the project.

  1. Step one, glue cover pieces together. The size is whatever you want.  I made mine tiny.  My spines are about 1/2" and the other one maybe 3/4 inch. They are about 3" by 4".

  2. Cut out your fabric signatures and glue rice paper, onion paper, or tissue paper between fabric.  Prepare your surface if you are painting.  I used duck cloth on one signature page.

  3. Glue or sew together.. your signatures then  have fun decorating the mini album.
